Caregivers take care of those who are suffering (or recovering) from some type of illness or injury or those who suffer from some type of mental or physical disability -or both.

Caregivers do whatever is needed to enable our clients to remain at home, with dignity and independence. This involves personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping and/or shopping and errands to clients in their homes as outlined by the client's individual Service Plan.

Macklyn Home Care provides services in the entire state of Delaware.


  1. Assist clients with Activities of Daily living which include: personal care needs such as bathing, elimination needs, transferring, dressing / undressing, and ambulation together with any household task (e.g., making bed, changing linens, laundry, light housekeeping, etc.) essential to the client's health in accordance with the client's individualized service plan.
  2. Plan / prepare nutritious meals and assist in feeding clients as directed.
  3. Document services provided in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with agency policy and personal service plan. Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
  4. Report any changes in the client's condition or incidents to Agency in a timely manner.
  5. Performs tasks / skills as outlined on service plan competently.
  6. Notifies Agency when clarification or education of a task is required.
  7. Submits timecards / activity sheets in a timely manner (i.e. weekly)
  8. Implements appropriate infection control practices.
  9. Demonstrates appropriate judgment skills to be able to make independent decisions in routine client care matters.

  18. Utilizes material, equipment and time in a safe, beneficial, and cost effective manner
  19. Organizes workload to complete responsibilities in an appropriate and timely manner.
  20. Observe infection control and standard precautions.
  21. Must pass annual competency exam with score of 85% or greater.
  22. Must receive Acceptable or higher rating on annual performance review.

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Successful completion of an initial competency test given by the Agency with written evidence of such completion. An annual test will also be given.
  3. Must either possess a valid/current Certified Nursing Assistant license or have 75 hours, approximately 2 years, of documentable personal care experience.
  4. Must be mature, emotionally stable and must display a sympathetic attitude toward providing services for clients at home who are medical problems.


  1. Pass a physical examination after being offered employment and a health assessment annually thereafter.
  2. Must meet all hiring criteria to include: drug test, TB test (or x-ray equivalent) background and work history.
  3. Possess reliable means of transportation to and from work.
  4. Able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform one person transfer under routine and emergency situations, reposition a bedbound client alone and able to sit, stand, bend stoop, kneel, pull, climb, reach, lift ,and perform repetitive movements of the upper extremities
  5. Ability to withstand periodic contact with dog/cat hair, dust, mold, mildew and household cleaning solutions.
  6. May be exposed to unsanitary conditions in some home settings.
  7. May be exposed to high crime areas within the service community.
  8. Endure exposure to weather and temperature extremes.
